Safety Evaluation for Experienced Climbers

If you have 2-3 years of multi-pitch trad lead or seconding experience, can tie a variety of climbing knots and hitches, are competent at rappelling, prusiking, and setting safe multi-pitch belay anchors, you can take our safety evaluation to become a member. It is offered four times per year (March, June, September, December).

Thanks for taking the time to fill out an application for the SCMA! Our Evaluations are conducted at either Joshua Tree or Tahquitz. You must be 18 or older to apply. Yearly club dues are $45. Once we receive your electronic application, we will email information regarding the Evaluation.

Please note: the SCMA is a volunteer organization and the Evaluation is administered only four times per year by volunteer members of the safety committee.
