SCMA Sponsors Alpine Club Talks

Alpamayo by Kelvin NguyenThis fall, in lieu of general meetings, the SCMA had chosen to be one of the sponsors of the Caltech Alpine Club fall speaker series, Alpine Club Talks.  The weekly events feature speakers from the Caltech Alpine Club, SCMA, and Sierra Club Sierra Peaks Section.  Of special note, the SCMA has arranged for two of the series presenters.

Tuesday, September 27, 2016, 7:00 PM.   Aron Stockhausen, owner of of Stone Adventures guide service in Joshua Tree, will discuss Rock Climbing Anchors

Monday, October 17, 2016, 7:00 PM.   SCMA Member Kelvin Nguyen will share his talent for combining his love of art with his love of climbing; presenting illustrations and stories from his outdoor pursuits, including his recent summit of Alpamayo

Alpine Club Talks, held in the Beckman Institute Auditorium on the Caltech campus in Pasadena, are free and open to the public.  Free parking is available after 6:00 PM.  A full listing of the 2016 speakers, topics, and map of the campus can be found under Alpine Club Talks on the Caltech calendar.
